This medicine contains the active ingredient lidocaine hydrochloride (previously known as lignocaine hydrochloride in the UK), which is a type of medicine called a local anaesthetic. Lidocaine acts to block temporarily the pathway of pain impulses along nerve fibres. This relieves or prevents pain in the area where it has been applied.What is it used for? Nicorette nasal spray contains nicotine. It is a type of medicine known as nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and is used to help smokers give up the habit. Nicotine is the addictive substance present in tobacco. Smokers who try to give up often experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and cravings for cigarettes, because they are dependent on the nicotine in tobacco. Withdrawal symptoms can include irritability, headaches, restlessness, insomnia and difficulty concentrating. These, combined with cigarette cravings, are why it is difficult for some people to give up smoking. Nicotine replacement therapies work by giving you a small amount of nicotine, but without the dangerous effects of inhaling tobacco smoke. This helps relieve the withdrawal symptoms and cravings for a cigarette that you get when you stop smoking, and allows you to get on with breaking the psychological habit of smoking. If you are physically addicted to nicotine, using NRT has been shown to almost double your chances of successfully quitting smoking. Nicorette nasal spray may be particularly helpful to the most heavily dependent smokers, because the nicotine is rapidly absorbed through the blood vessels in the nose to relieve cravings quickly. The nasal spray should be used, following the instructions in the pack, to relieve cravings in the first eight weeks after stopping smoking. The amount you use will depend on how many cigarettes you used to smoke and what strength they were, however, you should not use more than one spray in each nostril twice an hour. After this time your psychological urge to smoke should be less. You should then be able to gradually reduce the amount you use the spray, so that you are using less and less nicotine. Ideally after two further weeks you should be using half of what you were initially using. After four weeks (three months after you stopped smoking) you should have stopped using the spray completely. (It is rare to become dependent on the nasal spray. If this happens it is much less dangerous than being dependent on cigarettes and is a much easier habit to break than smoking.)NRT comes in many forms. Nicotine patches can be used to help prevent cravings for cigarettes, while nasal sprays, inhalators, chewing gum, tablets that dissolve under the tongue, and lozenges, are all forms that can be used instead of smoking when you get a cigarette craving.As well as breaking the physical addiction, you also need to break the smoking habits you used to have. Try to avoid situations where you will be tempted to smoke, and remember to seek help and support whenever you feel like giving in to your cravings. What is it used for? It may be taken as needed, or it may be taken once a day every day. Your doctor will determine which is the best way for you to take this drug. Follow your doctor's directions exactly.If used regularly every day, your doctor will prescribe a low dose (usually 2.5 to 5 milligrams per day). When this drug is taken only as needed, the dosing may need to be higher. Never take more of this drug than prescribed because you may experience serious side effects. Your doctor will adjust your dosage based on your response and other medications you may be taking (see also Drug Interactions section). Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.When taken as needed, take this drug at least 30 minutes before sexual activity; or use as directed by your doctor. This medication's effect on sexual ability may last up to 36 hours. Therefore, do not take more than once daily as needed.When taken regularly every day, you may attempt sexual activity at any time between your doses. Do not take more than one dose each day.Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while being treated with this medication unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Grapefruit juice can increase the amount of certain medications in your bloodstream. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. PACIFEN belongs to a group of medicines called muscle relaxants.This medicine is used to reduce excess tension in your muscles which causes spasms. These spasms happen in various illnesses such as multiple sclerosis and diseases or injuries of the spinal cord. Because this medicine reduces spasms and the pain that goes with them, it helps to make you more mobile. This helps you to manage your daily activities more easily.How to use Baclofen OralTake this medication by mouth, usually 3 times a day or as directed by your doctor. In general, your doctor may slowly increase your dose to lower your chance of side effects until the right dose for you is determined.Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed. Do not suddenly stop taking this drug without your doctor's approval. If you suddenly stop taking this drug, withdrawal reactions may occur. Such reactions can include seizures or hearing/seeing things that are not there (hallucinations). Report any such reactions to your doctor immediately. When stopping extended, regular treatment with this drug, gradually reducing the dosage as directed will help prevent withdrawal reactions. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to take it at the same times each day. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.It may take 1-2 months or longer to get the full benefit from this medication. Also treats rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.When This Medicine Should Not Be Used:You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to cyclosporine, or if you have certain kidney problems, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or cancer.How to Use This Medicine:Capsule, LiquidYour doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to use and how often. Your dose may need to be changed several times in order to find out what works best for you. Do not use more medicine or use it more often than your doctor tells you to. Take this medicine at the same time(s) every day. You may take this medicine with or without food, just be sure to take it the same way every day in relationship to your meals. It is important that you do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, unless your doctor tells you to. Use only the brand of this medicine that your doctor prescribed. Different brands may not work the same way. This medicine may be used with other medicines that prevent organ rejection. Take all other medicines your doctor prescribed as part of your combination treatment. To measure the oral liquid, use the measuring device provided with the medicine, or use a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup. Mix the oral liquid in a drinking glass, not a plastic cup. You can mix it with apple or orange juice to make it taste better. Do not mix it with very cold or hot drinks. Stir well, and drink your medicine right away. Rinse the glass with more juice or water and drink that too, so you get all of the medicine.If a dose is missed:If you miss a dose or forget to use your medicine, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to use the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up for a missed dose. Clopidogrel is used to prevent heart attacks and strokes in persons with heart disease (recent heart attack, unstable angina), recent stroke, or blood circulation disease (peripheral vascular disease). It works by blocking certain blood cells called platelets and prevents them from forming harmful blood clots. This "anti-platelet" effect helps to keep blood flowing smoothly in your body.How to use Clopidogrel OralTake this medication by mouth usually once daily, with or without food, or as directed by your doctor. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same time each day. This medication is a combination of 2 drugs, pioglitazone and glimepiride. It is used along with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent diabetes). Effectively controlling high blood sugar helps prevent heart disease, strokes, kidney disease, blindness, circulation problems, and sexual function problems (impotence).Pioglitazone belongs to a class of drugs known as thiazolidinediones or "glitazones." It works by helping to restore your body's proper response to insulin, thereby lowering your blood sugar.Glimepiride belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfonylureas. It works by causing the release of your body's natural insulin.How to use Pioglitazone/Glimepride OralRead the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start taking this medication and each time you get a refill. Monitor your blood sugar levels on a regular basis, and share the results with your doctor.It may take up to 2 to 3 months before you get the full benefit of this drug.When switching from individual diabetes drugs to this combination product, your doctor may ask you to check your blood sugar more often to make sure you do not have a sudden attack of low blood sugar (hypoglycemic reaction) when starting this product. This medication is used to treat high blood calcium levels (hypercalcemia) that may occur with cancer. Pamidronate is also used to treat a certain type of bone disease (Paget's disease) and bone problems that may occur with certain cancers (breast cancer, multiple myeloma). Pamidronate belongs to a class of drugs known as bisphosphonates. It works by reducing the amount of calcium released from your bones into your blood.How to use Pamidronate IVFollow all instructions for proper mixing and dilution with the correct IV fluids. Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Do not mix this drug with solutions that contain calcium (e.g., lactated Ringer's solution). If you have questions regarding the use of this medication, consult your pharmacist.Kidney tests should be performed before each dose of pamidronate is given. Give this medication by vein as directed by your doctor.The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. The dose should not be greater than 90 milligrams or be given over less than 2 hours. Doses that are higher than 90 milligrams, doses given too quickly, or previous use of this medication (or related drugs such as alendronate) increase the risk for kidney problems. Consult your pharmacist for more details. Norfloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as gonorrhea, prostate, and urinary tract infections. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.Norfloxacin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for virus infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.How to use Norfloxacin OralTake this medication by mouth, usually twice a day, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal or dairy products (e.g., milk, yogurt). Take with a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters). The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication unless your doctor tells you otherwise.Take this medication at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking any drugs that contain magnesium, aluminum, or calcium. Some examples include quinapril, certain forms of didanosine (chewable/dispersible buffered tablets or pediatric oral solution), vitamins/minerals, and antacids. Follow the same instructions if you take calcium-enriched juice, bismuth subsalicylate, sucralfate, iron, and zinc. These medications/products bind with norfloxacin and prevent its full absorption.Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. It is important not to miss a dose. To help you remember, take this medication at the same times every day.Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a return of the infection.Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.Norfloxacin Oral is used to treat the following:Acute Gonorrhea of the Lower Genital and Urinary Organs, Acute Gonorrhea of the Urethra, Acute Gonorrhea of the Cervix, Urinary Tract Infection, Infection of the Prostate Gland caused by E. Follow your doctor's directions exactly. If stomach upset occurs, take primaquine with food.Dosage is based on the kind of infection you have and response to treatment.This medication works best when the amount of drug in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug and other antiparasitic drugs at evenly spaced intervals exactly as prescribed by your doctor. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day.Do not take more or less of this drug than prescribed. Do not stop taking it before completing this prescription unless directed to do so by your doctor, even if you feel better. Skipping or changing your dose without approval from your doctor may cause the amount of parasite to increase, make the infection more difficult to treat (resistant), or worsen side effects.Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens after 1-2 days of taking this medication.
